Anti-Virus Software
Available from many Cyberspace - ask us about our McAfee Subscription Anti-Virus Service. You can no longer safely use a computer without anti-virus software and Cyberspace Internet require all customer to utilise an anti-virus software package.

Bank Details
Cyberspace Internet accept payments direct to our bank account. Please quote your account reference or Telephone number as reference.

Broadband ADSL
What is the difference between broadband & ADSL?
Broadband is an umbrella term for multiple types of broadband services. ADSL is one of these and is offered by Cyberspace Internet.

Broadband Reset Procedure
Your broadband connection may need resetting or rebooting periodically. Our restarting guide is here.

Continuous Connection (Dial Up only)
Cyberspace Internet apply a restriction to the maximum continuous time you can stay connected on Unlimited Plans and other Plans where displayed.
This restriction is to ensure all of our customers can access our services especially during peak times.

DNS Settings
Cyberspace Internet previously required DNS settings. Unless otherwise advised, ensure your DNS settings are set to automatic.

Broadband Customers Only
Your installation may need DNS settings. Please use:
124.254.72.68 & 124.254.72.70
Cyberspace do not recommend the use of manual DNS settings and prefer these are set to Automatic.

Domain Names
A domain name is the address of a web site such as www.cyberspace.net.au
Domain Name registration involves purchasing the rights to use a Domain Name from a Registrar. Once the Domain Name rights are held by you, you need to store the web site and this is called web hosting.
Cyberspace Internet offer both Domain Name registration and Web Hosting.

Email Aliases
Email Aliases allow people to contact you on more than 1 email address. For example, if your main Cyberspace account is jcitizen@cyberspace.net.au, you may set up an alias as jcit@cyberspace.net.au and all email received at this alias will be delivered to your normal jcitizen@cyberspace.net.au account.
To receive email in separate email boxes, you need an additional email account.

Email Problems
The majority of customers utilise Microsoft's Outlook or Outlook Express to view their email. With most software, it is critical that you keep it up to date with any fixes (patches) or upgrades. Utilise the Windows Update feature to ensure your PC is always up to date. Windows XP users can automate this process.
Cyberspace recommend Mozilla Thunderbird.

Email Size Restrictions
Cyberspace Internet may apply a size limit to all inbound email files per email message of 10Mb.
To reduce email message size, ensure you only attach Zipped files or break up the email into separate emails.

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.cyberspace.net.au

Firewalls
Cyberspace Internet requires that you use a firewall on your computer.
Microsoft include a firewall with Windows XP.

Proxy Settings
All Proxy settings should be set to automatic. Cyberspace Internet no longer use proxy servers on customer computers.

Registrar
A Registrar is responsible for maintaining Domain Name records.

SPAM Tactics
We all dislike SPAM. Cyberspace Internet do everything possible to reduce the amount of SPAM being received by our customers, including using spam filters, however, the volume is daunting. To reduce SPAM received in your email, follow some simple guidelines:

  • Never divulge your email address on websites if you are unsure of that websites credentials
  • It is critical that you keep your anti-virus software up to date and change the settings to check both inbound and outbound email
  • Use firewall software on your computer

Web Hosting
Web hosting is the term used for where a website lives. Once you have a Domain Name registered, you need to store the website content somewhere.
Cyberspace Internet offers Web Hosting.

Online Forms - Cyberspace Internet now supports the use of PHP rather than CGI. If CGI is required, please complete our online support form.
Statistics - are available for your website via www.yourdomainname.com.au or via your Cpanel./webstat
Webmail Access
Your email is available via the domain name contained in your email address. For example; if your email address is johncitizen@cyberspace.net.au then your email would be available at webmail.cyberspace.net.au.
If your email address is part of a domain name hosted at Cybewrspace, consult your Webmaster for more information.

Zipping Files
To reduce the size of files and emails across the internet, it is always advisable to zip any file. Zipping a file reduces it's size and can be un-zipped upon receipt.
Zipping files is now an integral part of computer use. You may use one of the many options available on the internet such as Winzip. Windows XP users can utilise the Zip functionality included in Windows XP.
