Welcome to the Cyberspace September Newsletter
Everything old
becomes new again!
Cyberspace are once again establishing a retail presence by opening our
first internet kiosk in Daylesford. In October, the popular Mill
Markets in Geelong open their Daylesford market and Cyberspace are
proud to be a part of it. Next time you are in Daylesford pop
along and see our stall (number 19) and let us know you are coming and
Stephan may even be able to meet you there.
During the month there have been some big movements in the wholesale
ISP market. We would like to assure you that Cyberspace are not
affected by the issues experienced by other companies and that our
wholesale provider continues to supply us with the highest level of
service & support.
There has also been some press this month about a chain of retail
computer stores with a very similar name. We are not and have never
been associated with Cyberspace Computers.
As always we welcome your feedback and hopefully we will see you in
Daylesford soon!

Spam Report - Web &
Email Hosted Customers
IMPORTANT
NOTICE
In order to control spam, Cyberspace have
now amended the policy regarding catch-all addresses for hosted email
customers. A catch-all email address captures all mis-addressed
or generic emails delivered to a web site.
This applies to customers
with hosted email only.
Previously we allowed you to specify a
catch-all address so that you could capture generic email addresses
such as enquiries@ or contact@ and have these forwarded to a real
mailbox. These generic email addresses are magnets for the spam
nasties out there.
So, what does this mean to you? If
you do not already document which addresses are used on your stationery
or website, please take a moment to review which ones you use as we
will be contacting you to clean up these addresses.
Instead of using catch-all addresses, we
will specifically ask you to nominate the addresses you require and we
will have the server reject any others.
When deciding which generic email addresses
to use, try to avoid simple ones like enquiries
and info, try to make it more
business centric like, bookings@myhotel.com.au
or contactus@mybusiness.com.au
This is also a good policy when deciding on your business' corporate
addresses, always try to use both names in the addresses rather than
just first names as these are always targeted as well. Check out
our Guidelines here.
Remember,
Cyberspace will only send emails
out which contain our logo and the word Cyberspace in the Subject
line. Any other emails supposedly coming from us should be
considered unsafe.
Anti Virus
Yes - believe it or not, we still hear of
some customers without anti virus protection!
Some reports have estimated it takes less
than 30 minutes for an unprotected computer to become infected.
Cyberspace requires that you have anti virus on any computer connecting
to the Cyberspace network. We also strongly recommend the use on
anti-spyware software such as ad-Aware.
Cyberspace can provide you with anti virus using our McAfee Total
Management Protection.
